I was in India last month and was apalled by what they show on the news channels. I used to think that the media is supposed to be objective in their reporting, but they are just amazing.

The news channels are so sensationalist and biased in reporting that its not news anymore. I can just hope that things dont get worse...

Perhaps India just learned too much from its time being occupied by England regarding "journalism" -- the sensationalistic and gossip-mongering press are amazing compared with other English-speaking countries.

"The reasons, he said, were two-fold: a lack of classically trained journalists and an unsated appetite for gossip over analysis, which leads to any research or confirmation only post facto, if that." - there's no disputing the truth of this statement. Indian journalism - electronic more than print - has firmly embraced sensationalism, and that's what we see, hear and read. That's what we are bombarded with. While I buy your point about morons in a booming economy, of greater concern is the fact that even the few "non-morons" in this field might be forced, by competitive pressures and for their own survival, to adopt the way of the morons.
Integrity suffers in a culture of mediocrity.

Cheers,
